Desktop experience

Familiar enough to use. Distinct enough to be SentinelOS.

The SentinelOS desktop is based on the traditional MATE layout: an applications menu, task panel, notification area, file manager and ordinary resizable windows.

Recognisable layout

A conventional menu and panel reduce the learning curve for people moving from Windows or another traditional desktop.

Consistent applications

Sentinel applications share common visual language, keyboard behaviour, help material and local-first expectations.

Calm visual identity

Dark-to-mid greys, Sentinel cyan and clean white highlights create a professional desktop without relying on “hacker” imagery or excessive neon effects.

Default workflow

Important tools stay close.

The default panel is intended to provide fast access to Sentinel Command, Sentinel Browser and Sentinel Notes while keeping applications, running windows and system status easy to find.

The public site now uses the official cyan SentinelOS-Light menu and application icons. Real dark and light desktop screenshots can be added here when the updated desktop baseline is captured; until then, the site avoids misleading mock screenshots.
